The 2008 Scarborough Tri will take place on Sunday, July 13th and will be held at Scarborough Beach State Park and Downtown Scarborough (near Memorial Park).

More information will be available soon.

Date: Sunday July 13, 2008

Start Time: 8am

Where: Starting at Scarborough Beach State Park and Finishing in downtown Scarborough

Distances: Swim 1/3 mile, Bike 15 miles, Run, 3 miles

Swim

Starting from Scarborough Beach State Park, this 1/3 mile swim on a triangular course is the ideal venue for an ocean swim.  Water temperatures will be in the low 60s so wetsuits are highly recommended.  Scarborough Beach is a local surfer’s dream and home to many vacationers in the summer.  It’s one of the most beautiful places in Southern Maine!

Bike (Course Map)

After the swim, athletes will run up the beach, onto a short path that leads to the transition area.  After exiting the park, athletes will complete 15 miles on some of the most well - liked cycling roads around.  The course winds along the smooth, rolling, country roads of Scarborough’s Pleasant Hill Neighborhoods, and then hugs the pristine Maine coastline.  It is a point-to-point bike course, finishing in the heart of downtown Scarborough.    There will be plenty of race staff providing on – course support.

Run

The 3 mile point – to – point run takes place mostly on a newly-updated trail system featuring the Scarborough Marshes.  Athletes will enter the trails at the Eastern Road access point.  It’s a mostly flat run finishing next to the Scarborough 350th Anniversary Celebration, a weekend – long festival commemorating the livelihood of the City.  Plan on spending the day partaking in festivities with friends and family!

Registration for the 2008 Scarborough Tri will open in December 2007. Please check back in the near future for more details.
