The Zone Urban Epic Festival…THE place to be.

FESTIVAL noun – a day or period of celebration.

Just because you’re not racing in the ZUE doesn’t mean you have to miss out.
A celebration is a celebration, and this one isn’t just for the finishing athletes – it’s for everyone. You, your family, your athletic friends, your non-athletic friends, your neighbors, your neighbors’ kids…the entire town.
The very nature of a festival implies fun.
And there will be plenty of that to go around.

So mark your calendar and tell your friends:

The Zone Urban Epic Triathlon and Festival
Saturday, July 26, 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 58 Fore Street in downtown Portland

TOP FIVE THINGS TO DO AT THE ZUE FESTIVAL

1. CHEER AN OLYMPIC ATHLETE ON (and all the others too)
Becky Lavelle leaves for Beijing the day after she finishes the ZUE. Be there to see her race. Plus, there is nothing so exciting and motivating as watching athletes fly in and out through transitions and down the finish shoot. The 58 Fore Street location is right on the waterfront, right smack dab in the heart of all the action, and right where you’ll want to be. Hang out in the Zone Labs tent to get the best view of the finish line and discuss with friends which racer came through with the best victory face.

2.  LISTEN TO THE FREE MUSIC
Live, at the finish line, you can rock out to the great sounds of Barefoot Truth. For free. Barefoot Truth – “one of the most promising young rock roots bands” – knows how to entertain. Get a snippet of their sound here. You can also jam with the band on Saturday night, when the party moves from the waterfront to The Big Easy.

3. PLAY
The racers aren’t the only ones with things to do: Maine Rock Gym is bringing a climbing wall. Casco Bay Sports is running a dodge ball firing contest (with T-shirt prizes) and other activities too. Local artists are showcasing work. Portland breakdancers are demonstrating how to make a body move. And a DJ is set to spin tunes.

4. STROLL DOWN VENDOR ALLEY
Cool products, great companies…you might even learn a thing or two. Get information and personal tips on Zone products and programs. Learn about waste-stream recycling from TerraCycle. Drop off your old athletic gear at the Atayne booth so it can be recycled and reused. Talk snow with Sugarloaf/Sunday River. Visit VitaminWater, Peak Performance Multisport, The Maine Switch Magazine, Tri-Maine and many more.

5. TAKE THE TASTE TEST
Sebago Brewing Company is offering a beer garden. It goes well with Barefoot Truth tunes and race cheering. Seriously, when else will you get the opportunity to drink beer on the waterfront?

No sign up is required. No training. Just show up and have fun. We’ll see you Saturday.

(Oh, and if you’re just finding your motivation, there is still time to sign up and race, on your own or with a relay team. Or volunteer...we’d love for you to do that too.)

Visit urban-epic.com for more info and registration.

Be EPIC.
