Race Morning: The gates to Winslow Park will open at 4:30am. We encourage athletes to arrive early. All athletes must be in the park by 7:30am, otherwise, they will not be guaranteed parking. There is park entry fee for non-athletes (see below). Please be ready to pay as you enter the park, one of the park staff members will direct you where to park. The Staples Point Road will be closing at 8:00am so please arrive before that time. The 2008 Lobsterman Triathlon will begin at 8:30am.

Staples Point Road Closure: Staples Point Road will be closed to traffic starting at 8am on race morning. It will reopen when the majority of the athletes are done with the race, approximately 11am. During this time, NO CARS will be allowed to leave Winslow Park. This is for the safety of the athletes and volunteers still on course. Please plan accordingly.

Winslow Park Entry Fee: Everyone who enters Winslow Park is required to pay the entrance fee. The fee is $1 for Freeport Residents, $2 for non-residents. Family, friends, and spectators must be prepared to pay this fee in order to get into the venue. Competitors are covered as part of their entry fee.

Dogs at Winslow Park: Dogs are allowed in the park, but there have been issues in the past with owners leaving their dogs in hot cars or tied up in the sun without water for hours. If you are bringing a dog, please plan accordingly and have someone to take care of your pet. Failure to do so will compromise our ability to have dogs in the park at future races.

Post Race Logisitics:

Lobsterbake: Join your fellow triathletes at a delicious Maine lobsterbake, hosted by Gritty McDuff's of Freeport! Fresh lobster, steamers, corn-on-the-cob, baked potato, etc. plus Gritty's own microbrew (must be 21 to drink). Tickets are $25/person and the lobsterbake will take place immediately following the race at Winslow Park. Tickets can be purchased with registration or by clicking here. There will be music and post race entertainment as well. The Beer is free for everyone (who is of legal drinking age, obviously), even if you pass on the lobsterbake. There will non-alcoholic drinks available as well.

USAT Sanctioning:
The 2009 Lobsterman Triathlon will be sanctioned by USA Triathlon. If you are not a n annual member of USA Triathlon, you will need to purchase a $10 one-day membership when you register and sign a USAT waiver that can be downloaded here.

Rules: Please look over the USAT competitive rules - you are responsible for understanding them and abiding by them. They are available at www.usatriathlon.org.

Relays: Relays are required to transfer their chip at the designated chip handoff area, which is located at the entrance to the TA. The overall time for a relay will be the aggregate of times for each of the members. Specific relay information will be available at packet pick-up.

Weather:
The weather in mid-September is typically very stable, with air temps in the low 70s by race time. It can be chilly (sub-50s) in the early morning, so bring some extra layers (and don't pump up your tires too full!).

Cancellation: The event will not be cancelled for any reason other than severe conditions that pose extreme danger to athletes and volunteers. Race Management reserves the right to alter the course in whatever way they deem is in the best interest of the athletes and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to, shortening or changing the course, removing one of the sports, postponing the start, etc. There are no refunds in the case of weather-caused changes or cancellations. If canceled, the 2008 Lobsterman will not be rescheduled.

Refund Policy:
In the event that you cannot participate, we will refund your entry fee minus a $20 handling charge up to July 31. After that, we will give a 50% refund up to August 31.
