Come join us for a fast river swim, a rolling bike ride through the charming countryside, and a run through the quaint neighborhoods of downtown Bath. A great way to kick off Fourth of July Week! Stay and enjoy the whole Heritage Days festival! The swim at Shipbuilder's 2007 guarantees to be one of your best. The outgoing tide will provide a moderate current in your favor, so get ready to cruise.
Swim
A 1 mile point-to-point swim down the Kennebec River, starting from the North End Boat Launch and finishing at Waterfront Park. Because there is an outgoing tide, we guarantee that you will have one of your fastest swim times ever! Please note that there is a strong current, especially near the end of the swim, so you should be comfortable swimming in open-water before competing in the Shipbuilders triathlon.
Wetsuits
Due to the potentially chilly water, is is STRONGLY recommended that all athletes wear a wetsuit when competingin the Shipbuilders triathlon. Race Management reserves the right to require wetsuits on all swimmers if the water looks to be exceptionally cold. Updates will be listed on this website.
Bike
A 25 mile lollipop ride through beautiful rural countryside and farmland. This is a rolling course with a number of larger, challenging hills. Definitely be ready to use a lot of your gearing!
Bike Cutoff Time
Please note that there is a cutoff time for the bike of 10:45am. If you are still out on the course at this time, you will be picked up by the sweep vehicle and brought back to transition. You will be allowed to continue the race, but your time will be considered unofficial. This cutoff time is in place to be fair to the volunteers and police who have been standing out on the roads for a number of hours, as well as in consideration for the City of Bath.
Run
A 6.2 mile run that meanders through the neighborhoods of Bath and North Bath. The course starts off fast and flat, then heads into the hills and finishes with a long straightaway through the heart of downtown on Commercial Street.
Finish/Post-Race
Following the race, enjoy the commeraderie of your fellow triathletes and a massage from the Maine Sports Massage Team. There will be food, drinks, and an awards ceremony as well. Stick around and enjoy the rest of the Heritage Days Celebration throughout Bath!
