We have reached our limit for the 2012 Polarbear Triathlon. There are still some spots available in the duathlon. If you are a Bowdoin College Student, there will be a sign-up event on campus in early February.

USA Triathlon One-Day Fees Increasing on January 1, 2012
USAT, the National Governing Body for the sport of Triathlon, has announced the increase of one-day licenses from $10 to $12, effective January 1st. If you are not an annual member of USAT and you plan to race in 2012, please be prepared to pay an additional $2. You can avoid this by becoming an annual member of USAT. SWIM CLINIC THIS MARCH!
Looking to improve your stroke and learn about technique in the water? Join expert coach Brad Burnham for an off-season clinic taking place at Bowdoin College. Brad will demonstrate body position, drills, and ideas for achieving maximum efficiency in the water. There will also be underwater filming and stroke analysis.
Also - learn dryland strength and agility exercises that will help in the water!

Mountain Epic Trail Races a Success!
With some of the best weather imaginable, the fourth edition of the Mountain Epic Peak-to-Peak Challenge took place on Sunday, October 9th. Record crowds cheered on the more than 200 athletes who completed the various courses. Congratulations to the winners:

Congratulations to all 2011 Lobsterman athletes!
Under clear blue skies, over 700 competitors raced in the ninth edition of the Lobsterman Triathlon and Aquabike. Vaughn Cooper (Dover, NH) took the men's title in 2:04:26, while Sarah Russell (Cumberland, ME) was the women's winner in 2:17:42. In the Aquabike, Brooke O'Connor was the top woman in 1:39:26, and Bill Bristol was the top man in 1:40:01.

The Urban Epic Challenge Presented by Oxford Networks Rocked!
On a warm, sunny morning, 250 athletes took on the inaugural Urban Epic Challenge. From triathletes to runners to CrossFit athletes, it was a wide array of fitness enthusiasts who completed the obstacle course on Portland's Eastern Prom.

Congratulations to the 450 Pirate finishers!
The cold, rainy conditions did not dampen the amazing spirit of the hundreds of athletes, volunteers, and spectators who participated in the third edition of the Pirate Tri at Point Sebago Resort. Rob Richard of Berwick, ME took home top honors for the men in 1:02:28, while Anne Wilkinson was the fastest female of the day, finishing in 1:11:19. Many an eyepatch, hook, and skull & crossbone were spotted throughout the day, making the Pirate Tri a fantastic, family-friendly event.
A huge THANK YOU goes out to the volunteers, Point Sebago Resort, Camp Sunshine, and the sponsors for all of their great help!

Congrats to all of the 2011 Polarbear Finishers!
Under glorious conditions, the nineth edition of the Polarbear Tri/Duathlon took place on Saturday, May 7th. Mike Caiazzo took top honors in the Triathlon, setting a new course record of 50:53. Cathering Sterling continued her four-year domination as the top female, bettering her course record with a time of 56:51. The Duathlon was won by Kurt Perham in 1:01:22 and by Carrie McCusker in 1:07:55.

Congrats to the PolarBear 5k Runners!

What started as a chilly dawn became a beautiful morning as hundreds of athletes took to the streets and trails of Portland to kick off the 2011 season! With over 350 entrants, the PolarBear 5k nearly doubled from 2010.
